I live in Austin Texas. I am a Austin Community College graduate with an associates in Visual Communication, graphic design. My favorite subject about design is typography because of its power to communicate a message with a touch of emotion. I was very lucky to have such great professors at ACC. When I struggled with conceptual ideas, one of my professors Linda Smarzik was able to teach the class how to construct such an idea without picking the low bearing fruit, thank you. It really pushed us to show our work and concept. My favorite part was when I got to print out some of my work. I enjoy creating things for print too!
My first design work happened at serieproject.org in 2012. Serie project, inc. is a nonprofit supporting under represented artist from all over the world who produce art through screen printing and educating one on the process of this art form. I was lucky enough to work under Sam Z. Coronado and was able to be apart of something this great. As the marketing materials designer, I was able to help the serie projects social media presence by producing some neat visual covers for facebook, among other things like Serie XX exhibition invitation. I was able to help maintain and update their commerce side of the website.
I am currently working with nonprofits such as https://austindragfest.org/ where I help managing there website. I am also working with small news publication http://www.arribanews.com/ whic has been around since the early 1990’s but has just recently began their contribution digitally. I have helped get the publication onto the web with distribution through issuu.com and plan to help with marketing, social media and graphic design work.
